Sound and Light Show at the Invalides

April 18th, 2012

La Nuit aux Invalides – a great sound and light show at the Invalides.  Built by Louis the 16th as a home for disabled soldiers it’s now the home to several museums and Napoleon’s tomb.  The 45-minute show in the central courtyard recounts a brief political/military history of France, accompanied by a fabulous light show on the walls, highlighting the architecture and history with an effective sound track.  The text is in French but, even if you don’t speak French, the show was pretty easy to follow and enjoy, even for kids!  Unfortunately today was the last performance – unless they bring it back.  If they do and you’re in Paris, consider going!
