Music in the metro

April 21st, 2012

One of the joys of traveling by metro – the chance to hear some rather good music in some of the stations.  The city of Paris auditions musicians and groups every year and gives permits to about 100 of them (there are of course many ‘unauthorized’ group in the stations, some of whom are also good).  So stop and listen and, if the spirit moves you, buy their CDs or simply  make a small donation.

A couple of spots where you’re likely to encounter groups – Chatelet (transfer between line 4 and line 1) and Bastille (transfer between line 1 and line 5).  Happy listening!
