Artemisia – not the plant, the painter!

May 10th, 2012

Don’t worry, I didn’t know her either.  But Artemisia Gentileschi, born in 1593 to a famous painter father, was to become a famous painter in her own right.  Reading even a brief bio of her life you can’t escape thinking that she really was a feminist way ahead of her time!  If you’re in Paris before July 15th consider taking in this exhibit mounted by the Musée Maillol,  61, rue de Grenelle, Paris, 7th arrondissement.  Audio guide available in French, English and Italian.  And the Musée Maillol is open every day, even holidays, making this an ideal expo to see on days when other museums are closed.  And in the process you’ll discover on of Paris’s lesser known museums!
