Military Bands and Cannons at Les Invalides

December 7th, 2013

In Paris with kids today and tomorrow?  The Musée de l’Armée has programmed cannon firings and military bands at Les Invalides this weekend, December 7 and 8  to celebrate ‘la Sainte-Barbe’ (Saint Barbara for anglophones), patron saint of artillery from a story that goes back to 235 A,.  Free to all.  The program is as follows (the same on both Saturday and Sunday):

About 2:30 pm:   military band along the north wall

About 3:00:         entry into the Court of Honor

About 3:30:         firing of the cannon

From 3:45            mingle with the personnel and check out the equipment

If you read French you can get more info by clicking here.  At the bottom of that page there’s a game worksheet for kids to download.  And if you have time, visit the museum too!  Click here to read more about Sainte-Barbe in English.
