Jazz and the Basques in the 6th this weekend!

May 22nd, 2014

No,  Jazz and the Basques is not a new group.  In this case, one has nothing to do with the other.  This weekend Saint-Germain-des-Prés plays host to two festivals – Festival Jazz Saint-Germain and the Festival Basque.  For jazz, there are performances nightly through Sunday by various groups at various locations in the 6th.  To see the complete program and buy tickets click here.  Meanwhile, rue Princesse & rue Guisarde, also in the 6th (metro: Mabillion), will be the epicenter of the Festival Basque, designed to promote tourism in the Basque region of France (while focused on travel professionals and journalists most events are open to the general public).  Bars in the area will be sporting the Basque colors (red & white) and, among the special events – the chance to learn to speak Basque or listen (and join in?) to karaoke in Basque (Thursday night, 8 pm, at the Little Temple Bar).  Events are Thursday night and Friday.  For more info (only in French and a bit confusing) click here.

And have a great weekend, even if you’re not in Paris!
