Love Celtic Music? Festival Interceltique, Lorient, Brittany

August 8th, 2014

There’s still time!  The Festival Interceltique held in Lorient, a city in southern Brittany, runs through this Sunday.  There are venues all over town in this small city, all within walking distance of each other.  And there’s music almost all the time (but especially in the evening) at the bars and restaurants that line the major streets.  This year the music of Ireland is featured but there are Celtic groups from many countries (Scotland, Australia, northern Spain, New Brunswick, Isle of Man, etc.).  I was lucky enough to get invited to reception hosted by regional government which featured mini-concerts by many groups, including Celtic harp played by a very talented young woman (see photo below).  Great costumes, traditional dances and more!  Click here for the program.  So stop by if you’re in the neighborhood.  A great add-on to any vacation in Brittany!
