Ravel/Béjart in the gardens of Versailles this week

The Béjart Ballet will be performing Ravel’s Boléro in the gardens of the Orangerie at the Chateau de Versailles this Wednesday and Thursday, June 18th & 19th at 9:00 pm.  Tickets are not cheap (248 to 43 euros depending on the category) but it’s likely to be spectacular.  To reserve, click here.  Versailles is easily accessible by RER C (suburban light rail) and the SNCF (the French national railway) – you should be able to go and return by public transportation but if you’re worried


The Swedish Ballet & the Avant Garde

A new exhibit just opened at the Opera Garnier featuring the Swedish Ballet which, from 1920 – 1925, rivaled Diagalev’s Ballets Russes as leaders of the avant garde in the world of ballet.  Open daily 10-5 (10-6 from July 10-August 30) except for occasional (of course unspecified) closures until September 28, 2014. In the library/museum of the Opera Garnier, metro: Opera (lines 3 7, 8).  Admission included with admission to the Opera building itself (for self-guided or guided visits).  Admission: 10 euros (6 for those
